| Abstract: | This paper reviews the literature on the economic consequences of voluntary environmental action taken by tourism firms. Three challenges are presented to the commonly held 'tragedy' expectations. The results suggest the viability of alternative environmental policy making taking potential voluntary action under consideration. |
