Abstract:A large number of decision situations can be modelled as spatial problems. Usual location models allow only one firm or facility to locate, competitive models permit to react to the competition's actions. So the question is if repeated relocation of the facilities involved converges towards a predictable pattern. A lot of competitive spatial models have been described in the literature. A general model is formalized here and its components are delineated. Some of the major results are surveyed then. Future research directions are advised. Work in this field could increase understanding the effects of government facilities competing with one or more free market facilities.
