Abstract:The German market of video games is investigated. Indicative of the importance of this market is that about two million people have their little video equipment with them en route and at least one million carried it to the summer holiday this year. Germany is in a fever of video games. The market leader is Nintendo, which sold 20 million of its popular Game Boy, followed by Sega with its Game Gear (4 million sold in 1991). The turnover of the two firms were respectively 6.25 billiards DEM and 1.45 billiards DEM. However, Sega tries to get the position of number one: it develops together with Sony a new system based on CD-technology.
