Abstract:The same phones, the same services, and fake trees that hide transmitters: The brave new world of wireless communications is neither brave nor new - but weird. Look at those self-absorbed profligates, those yuppies strolling through the airport with cellular phones sutured to their jaws. Do you find yourself harboring uncharitable thoughts? Is your disdain not really a cloak for envy, hat they can afford such gadgets and the bills that ratchet up as quickly as the fare in a taxicab? Or that their employer pays for the cellular phone, so it doesn't cost them a dime?
