Abstract:In many European countries, the process of integration faces opposition because of the fear of nselling out the homelands<<.Many countries, most nota-Aly Denmark, have introduced restrictions on trade in land and other real estate.Such restrictions are to a certain extent in opposition to the principles of free trade and factor mobility within the EU.As example of Austria shows, a country negotiating its entry into the EU, can obtain considerable compensations in exchange for giving up restrictions on real estate trade. In order to obtain these benefits, the country must not defend the existing situation, but must actively look for a possible compromise.
