Abstract:It would by fruitful to regard personal networks as a form of capital capable for generating economic returns. By putting network capital on a par with economic and cultural capital, the study seeks to identify its distinctive features in terms of institutionalization, capacity, moral economy, and processes of conversation and reproduction. Some quantitative evidence is presented on the uneven distribution of kinship ties which can be mobilized from emigration among different occupational classes.
