Abstract:This study aimed to explore the relationship btw. adolescents' (here as: adls.)viewing of docu soap/s (as: d-sp./d-sps.) and their career aspirations. It is shown that among a sample of 369 adls. in their last year of secondary education, regular viewing of a d-sp. about midwives, veterinarians or para-commandos was a significant predictor of more positive perceptions of that profession (as: prfs). Data on student numbers suggested these to go up in periods following the broadcasting of a successful d-sp. about a particular prfs. The odds of becoming a student of a study programme recently featured in a d-sp. increased by 15 percent.
