Abstract:This paper studies the ethics of a large MNC in its relationship with its suppliers. The study is conducted through a brief literature review of corporate identity, business ethics and buyer-supplier relationship is described. In addition the authors conduct a case study on one South African MNC where the buying staff and the suppliers' views and perceptions are obtained and discussed. The authors find that the existence and implementation of formal codes of ethics was found to be necessary. The second important factor was open relationships between the suppliers and the MNC. Together these two factors can help in creating positive buyer-supplier relationships.
