Abstract:Property in the City of London is expanding very fast. Newer and newer banks are lending at lower and lower rates. But there are Cassandras who predict that the galloping rental growth, amounting to 50% per year, cannot continue. The only brake on the boom is the ample supply of new office space in and around the City. Canary Wharf, three miles from the City will supply 1 million square foot at half price. Meanwhile the Japanese banks obtain an ever rising share in the property market.
