| Abstract: | Based on a survey of research-based pharmaceutical (here as: phcs.) companies operating in the United Kingdom (U.K.) from 2004 to 2006, this paper aims to to outline the main reasons for phcs. firms to outsource R&D and management practices followed by these companies in relation to outsourcing (here as: outs). The results include interesting findings in relation to, e.g. the reasons behind outs., the decision-making processes behind such practices and barriers to outs. arrangements. These issues are evaluated together with the characteristics of the firms and the specific outsourced project(s). |
