Abstract:Businesses have in the past 10 yrs. begun to use benchmarking as a way to compare their products, services and practices with those of other companies. Benchmarking expert Robert Camb estimates that btw. 60% and 70 % of the largest firms in the United States are conducting some form of benchmarking. Most benchmarking involves monitoring and measuring a company's internal processes, such as sales or administration. The keys are choosing appropriate companies for comparison and obtaining the appropriate data. Companies can also benchmark their own training practices.
