Abstract:Based on a sample of 271 Canadian organizations and using an ordered probit statistical analysis, this paper studies the influence of strategic and organizational characteristics, transactional variables and human resource outsourcing risk factors. Twelve hypotheses were estimated in the analysis, and eight of these received empirical support. The results of the analysis support the strategic and organizational drivers of outsourcing of human resources functions. Some support for transaction-specific variables was found, and also risk-related variables were found to be important drivers of the outsourcing decisions of companies.
