Abstract:In competitive industries, like wood product industry, a company should develop practices that differentiate itself from competition. The successful GPI Distributors has partnering relationships developed with some manufacturing principals, as one of the greatest competitive advantages. For GPI , it has not been necessary to do business with suppliers that do not meet their their expectations. So, they don't have any truly bad supplier-distributor relationships. GPI feels having partnering relationship with most of it's suppliers, and relies it's suppliers for consistent and effective service, quality products, and satisfactory resolution to problems. By working closely, distributor, supplier, and customers will all benefit, especially when the companies involved are small relative to the competition.
