| Abstract: | The centralized approach to managing research and development will no longer suffice and many companies are establishing global research and development networks that excel at tapping new centers of knowledge and commercializing products rapidly in foreign markets. This shows that successful research and development networks call for managers who understand the new dynamics of global research and development, link corporate strategy to research and development strategy, pick the appropriate sites, staff them with the right people, supervise the sites during startup and coordinate the activities of the network as a whole. |
