Abstract: | Customer equity may be the star managers look toward in the future as a measure of outcome. One of the few markets in the world in which there is currently little evidence of oversupply is the donation of organs for transplantation. Unlike other industries, such as air travel, rental cars, hotel accommodation, personal computers, detergents, vehicle manufacturing, and automobile tires (where there is evidence of overcapacity of as much as 40 percent), the demand for human body parts - corneas, kidneys, livers, hearts, and lungs - for transplanting into desperate recipients tragically and greatly exceeds availability. |
