Abstract:Optimization models and their use in the control of economy for the purpose of the best utilization of resources to gain the best results are discussed. The problems and experiences of a planned economy, especially of the Soviet economy are analyzed, but only a few of those problems are treated. Specific peculiarities of the problems considered are the alteration of economic theory, solutions concerning single enterprises, new problems of control, etc. New methods of tackling these new economic issues are pointed out. Difficulties and perspectives of mathematical methods for solving changed economic issues are discussed.
