Abstract:In this paper the authors study how scents can be used to make services more tangible and alluring as well as how scents can be generally used in service marketing. The authors present a overview of studies, concentrated mainly on the area of retailing, showing how scents can be used in services. In addition the paper shows number of examples of such applications. Findings show that while scents are used by some service providers the area has been relatively neglected by academics and in marketing literature.
