Abstract:The purpose of the article is to discuss the issue of white-collar crimes and moral motivation in business environments. According to the paper, in ethics there is often a consensus about the content of moral obligations, but people need to be motivated to respect them. The author aims to demonstrate how some traditional questions of business ethics can be approached by a criminological perspective. The rejection of three popular folk theories of criminal motivation (character, greed and values) by criminologists is explained. In addition, a theory is presented that involves "techniques of neutralization".
