| Abstract: | Franchising is growing at a pace now relatively consistent with the growth of the economy as a whole. The five papers contained in this special issue of the ISBJ examine a range of issues: The early origins of franchising and different manifestations of the concept; "dark side" issues; the emergence of franchise advisory councils; the contrasting roles of franchise operations in situations of dramatic market change. Together these papers provide differing perspectives on the broad picture of franchising as it exists today. |
