| Abstract: | This month Steve Perry looks at the issue of retail price inflation. A great deal of political and media attention is focuses on the monthly announcement of the rate of inflation but it is a term rarely understood in detail. The author's aim here is to describe recent trends in price inflation in the UK, to compare the UK experience to that of its main competitors and to review the outlook for inflation over the near term. Inflation is usually presented in yearly movements in the retail price index. |
