Abstract: | This study researches cognitive and emotional experiences of the entrepreneur. The entrepreneurial context can be characterized in terms of uncertainty, ambiguity, and stress. This paper investigates the relevance of three inter-related constructs from psychology: peak performance, peak experience and flow. The study builds a conceptual model linking these three variables to one another and to the context of entrepreneurial process. A series of in-depth interviews are conducted with two cross-sectional samples of entrepreneurs. Providing both qualitative and quantitative evidence, this paper proves the relevance of all three variables. In addition, the paper draws a number of implications for ongoing research and entrepreneurial practice. |
