Abstract:In the past decade, franchising has seen rapid growth and a high rate of success. Where there has been failure, it has stemmed from a lack of basic management skills rather than weakness of the concept itself. The three essential ingredients of a successful franchise business are a sound and proven concept, adequate financing, and above all a good relationship with each element of the franchise network. First, the concept must have recognizable individuality. It must be practical, it must have staying power, and it must be easy to duplicate.
