Abstract:There are three basic aspects of software quality: meeting specified requirements; user perception of fitness for use; and value added per unit of development cost. These must be applied to the definition of software which includes not only computer programs, but data and documentation as well. The most important step in making the connection between these quality aspects and planning for quality software is to develop a working definition of quality that is appropriate for the system producer, user, and client. A plan is needed for each of the following: quality assurrance; development; quality control/testing; and configuration.
