Abstract:Integrated applications software tears down the walls being built by compartmentalization. A number of software vendors offer now integrated application packages. The characteristics of these application systems are summarized /e.g. navigation between application modules, ability to integrate external applications etc./. Opinions on the risky nature of buying such type of packages is discussed. Cases of generally positive assessment of integrated systems are mentioned. The programming facilities offered by integrated packages are found satisfying. Users are pleased with the consistency, flexibility, and the wide range of applicability of integrated software tools.
