Abstract:Analysed is the productivity of programmers and analysts in the software development shop. Answers of supervisors of software development show that when communication fails or when it is too expensive or threatening, managers will choose to redeploy their resources. Communication is rarely favoured when it involves users. Avoiding organizational approaches probably stems from a feeling that such approaches do not pay off; because supervisors are not well-connected to the organization politically, this feeling is probably reinforced by experience.
