Abstract:This article will focus on two cases concerning the interface of international trade with health and consumer concerns: the Hormones dispute and the polemic on foodstuffs containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Following a brief review of the European and international regimes for sanitary measures that potentially disrupt trade (section II), the key questions presented previously will be examined in the context of the EC-US dispute on hormone-treated beef (section III).
