Abstract:Constituting a case study, this paper explores the process and pedagogy of an innovative project for undergraduate graphic design students. This project's innovative nature relates to how it shows to students the value of research as a way for informing the design process. The structure and activity provides students learning experiences corresponding to the responsibilities of professional design practice. Particularly, the project includes strategies for students to improve research skills, practise client-relation skills, and gain experience working on design teams. In addition, a pedagogical framework is also described in order to understand this project's educational strategies and goals.
