Abstract:The present study focuses on the trade negotiations in goods, a process which involves all the factors which bear on market access (tariffs, non-tariff barriers, and the rules of trade in a wide sense). The analysis of modern integration processes must adopt an integral focus on the factors involved in economic integration. It is generally accepted that trade integration is an essential stage in the process. This is especially important for the developing countries, who are encountering serious problems in accessing prerequisite for progress in other fields. The results of the process of trade liberalisation between SA countries and the EU will have differential consequences for the foreign trade of each of the countries involved. The paper groups such consequences in two sets.
