Abstract:There is evidence on the dynamics underlaying human resource (HR) reform in situations where multinationals acquire companies in developing countries on a basis short of full ownership. Using three case studies of HR reform within privatized Jordanian companies acquired by French multinationals, this study explores these dynamics. It is concluded that the reforms introduced by the multinationals reflected their more general approaches to post-entry HR reform. Yet, the pace and manner of change was influenced by local factors, incl. the influence of the Jordanian government based on its continuing role in the ownership and management of the companies.
