| Abstract: | The authors examine the stock market's reaction to the announcement of American Airline's takeover of Trans World Airline, and then analyzes subsequent price movement throughout the completion of the merger. They conclude that the events of the merger and then September 11th eventually led to the resignation of CEO Don Carty, and American embarked on a cost-cutting plan. |
