Abstract:This article concentrates on the gendering of organizations and the impact of organizational change and mergers on workers. Seven reasons for mergers being gendered are provided. Mergers often cause job losses and women are in positions likely to be outsourced, and the contracts of women differ from those of men and are easier changed. Due to mergers internal contracts can be broken, and tacit skills of women may not be valuated enough by the new employer. Also motional reactions, risk perception and the discourse of mergers are discussed.
