Abstract:The consequences of technological revolution in industry, primarily in automation and of the necessity to reduce costs has genarally led to redistribution of repair tasks in the industrial sector. The steel industry is used as an example to analyze the relationship between workers and their machines, changed significantly by the transfer of maintenance and repair work to the production crew. This phenomenon resulted in the higher technical qualifications of the workers. Simultaneously, the demonstration of the factors explaining reorganization facilitates identification of elements to be compared with other industries.
