| Abstract: | The concept of software maintenance is defined. The following three types of software maintenance are examined: 1.corrective maintenance; 2. adaptive maintenance; 3. perfective maintenance. Alternative approaches to the maintenance function are described and compared. The most important research efforts are indicated on the basis of the literature. Four forms of maintenance organization are discussed: 1. structural organization which is dealing separately with development and maintenance; 2. process organization; 3. maintenance steering committee; 4. project organization. Some techniques of maintenance management are described: budgeting, performance measurement, cost accounting, cost reduction, motivation, maintenance monitoring. |
