| Abstract: | One of the most common mistakes that managers first make when manging a business unit is to believe that they can behave as though they were the managing director of an independent company. If that were true, what would be the point of the corporation owning the unit in the first place? The key questions for the parent organization are how it can add value by owning a decentralised set of business, and how it can best manage decentralised units. |
