Abstract: | Usually in the literature on connections between HR and companys performance it is assumed that managers can strongly affect the strategic choices in this area. The authors on the other hand think that these strategic choices are firmly influenced by members of the networks within which the company operates, and managers are tightly bound to the expectations of the network members. An example of two contrasting companies is presented and the authors consider the variation of strategic choices in the light of resource dependency theory. The article concludes how the link between HR and companys performance can be understood only by paying adequately attention to the networks and relationships of companies. |
