Abstract:While the UK and the US have not made any deal on reciprocity with Japan, France have done. All the four big Japanese securities houses will be admitted to Paris in return for similar rights for French banks in Tokyo. Although the French-Japanese business is not very important, both sides are interested in it. Japanese investors want to diversify their international investments and French authorities are keen to have Japanese banks in Paris bringing in 20-40 billion FF per year.
