Abstract: | The need for modifying the management in the USA is emphasized. Some American companies do not perceive that USA industry has major problems in international competition. A list of typical textbook solutions is presented. As a contrast the recommendations made by Yoshio Hatakeyama, president of the Japan Management Association are shortly reviewed. Some important aspects of managerial job are highlighted. It is shown how to assess the managerial performance. The path to continuous improvements is seen as requiring management encouragement of employee involvement. This yields improved factory and office processes, making the firm a supplier of high-quality, low-cost goods and services, which means survival. |
