| Abstract: | In contrast to the conventional approach, efforts are made to demonstrate that safety and environment compatible business activity can be economically feasible. The points that have to be observed when the methods and techniques of risk management are in use are highlighted. The main tasks of risk engineering are specified in a practice-oriented manner. The process of risk engineering is described. A checklist is provided for the assessment of safety standards. Some important goals and measures of protection are identified. A scenario approach to the assessment of the probability of accidents is presented. The role of safety personnel and environmental protection specialists is highlighted. |
