Abstract: | The article investigates managers' tendency to engage in participative decision making(PDM)in Peru and Mexico. Even though these two countries share a certain degree of cultural similarity, two main differences could be detected. The Mexican mangers who believed that PDM reduces manger's power base were more likely to see a positive relationship between PDM and organizational effectiveness than Peruvian managers who believed similarly. Mexican managers were also less committed than other managers to participation as a management philosophy and to their organizations when they were working in participative organizational cultures, whereas Peruvian managers were more committed than other managers in similar organizational environment. |
