Abstract:Telecommunications has become a priority for existing businesses and to attract new industry in the Third World. Countries in Africa, South America, and the Pacific now are updating their telecommunications infrastructure. Satellites provide an excellent way to develop this infrastructure. Western companies doing business in the developing world must change their ways of operating to allow for the cultural differences. It means taking more time, and developing long-term relationships.
