Abstract:The Brazilian government has selected Hughes Aircraft Co.'s Space and Communications Group to provide the second generation Brasilsat domestic communications satellites. Hughes won over Canada's Spar Aerospace, and the French Matra and Alcatel. Ariane was chosen for the satellites' launch. Political and financial considerations played a major role in the decision.
