Abstract:The Soviet satellite company, Soyuzkarta is offering various ranges of remote sensing images to the Western nations. At present the media can buy remote sensing images only from Landsat or Spot offering lower resolution than Soyuzkarta. M. Brender, ABC TV's editor is interested in the Soviet offer. However, Brender suggests the construction and launch of Mediasat, a remote sensing satellite devoted to the needs of news media, but the U.S. government officials say Mediasat could pose a threat to national security.
