| Abstract: | The satellite era and the space race began with the Russian launch of Sputnik in 1957. The first geostationary satellite called Syncom came 6 years later.The first commercial satellite, Early Bird was launched in 1965. Satcom launched in 1975 was the first to use three-axis stabilization. Satellite lifetimes have increased from months to years. The events of the past 30 years show the industry is trying to move from technological orientation to application. Technology will continue to develop to meet the user needs. |
