| Abstract: | For emerging-market bond investors the former Soviet Union, especially central Asia is the place to be. Debt markets have rallied across the board, yields are mostly buoyant, and currencies ahve held their own against the dollar. Today hedge fund analysts are checking out what they have identified as the next hot opportunity in emerging markets in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Moldova. These are some of the countries where investors have found the most lucrative investments. The flight of hot-money speculators away from Russian GKOs to the ex-Soviet republics during the first half of the year has been startling. |
