Abstract:A study of hotels in several Asian countries (i.e., China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore) found that those with an entrepreneurial stance reported stronger performance than dis those with a conservative approach to the business. An entrepreneurial approach is characterized by innovative, proactive, risk-taking actions. The high-performing, entrepreneurial hotels showed significant differences from more staid operations on the statement about proactive operation, as well as questionnaire items covering finding new market opportunities, being first to introduce new products, and seeking to improve their products.
