Abstract: | Employee turnover might have several negative consequences e.g. decreasing quality of customer service and increasing expenses. The aim of this paper is to analyze the economic impact of employee turnover paying particular attention to the hospitality industry. The analyzed data was collected from 33 hotels located in the United States. The paper identifies a set of activities related with recruitment, selection and training of employees, that were connected to lower overall costs of turnover. Job complexity, independence from chains, high average daily rates, large room rates, high occupancy level were factors that seem to raise the costs of turnover. |
