Abstract:This article explores the effect of process innovations (herein as: prc-inns.) on firm total factor productivity growth (henceforth as: p-g.), dealing explicitly with the impact of firm size on the nature of this relationship. It is especially analyzed whether firm size affects the life span of the impact of prc-inns. on p-g. Using data from a Spanish survey of manufacturing firms from 1991 to 1998, a fully non-parametric methodology is used, based on the concept of stochastic dominance. The results show that the implementation of prc-inns. produces an extra p-g. both for large and small firms. However, the p-g. is more persistent for large than for small firms.
