| Abstract: | The report assesses the market for unit trusts, investment trusts, personal equity plans (or PEPs), direct investment in shares and stocks, and gilts. Basically, these are products offering relatively high growth rates with an element of risk, and not usually guaranteeing capital. The market has become increasingly competitive, particularly as base rates have fallen and interest rates on savings accounts have inevitably followed suit. Investment products have looked increasingly more attractive by comparison. The survey presents information, especially in the United Kingdom, on market sectors, products, suppliers, consumers, distribution, marketing, and prospects. |
