Abstract: | This study analyzes the opinions of newsletter editors in the SierraClub to understand the roles an editor and newsletter content play in building relationships in an activist setting. The paper seeks to examine editorial decision making in an activist organization, and to examine the role of interpersonal interaction as part of an organizational-public relationship. The findings of the study illustrate normative practices for grassroots gatekeepers. Editors saw their role as making relationship building and activism easier for the members. A new facilitative relationship type is suggested for organizational-public relationship theory. |
