Abstract:This study aims at exploring how Human Resources (HR) contributes to responsible leadership (hereafter as: r-l-ship). Relying on the analysis of interviews with 30 CSR and HR corporate executives from 22 corporations operating in France, specified are the HR contributions to r-l-ship. at the functional, practical, and relational levels of analysis. It is explored whether and how HR supports employees' involvement in CSR. Underlined are areas of cooperation and tension btw. HR and CSR functions around emerging practices of r-l-ship. Herein, uncovered are the multiple, yet often implicit, roles of HR in r-l-ship. and the interrelation btw. functional, practical and relational dimensions of these roles. Finally, it is suggested that the organization of the HR-CSR interface can enable or undermine the HR contributions to r-l-ship. etc.
